Spare our fishmonger

By Felix Osike

PLANS to relocate a leading Cardiff  fish stall has triggered  furious protests from the  shoppers who have  petitioned the City Council to spare the axe on the popular outlet.

A strong contingent of 200 shoppers want Keith Twamley or Keith The Fish (pictured right), to remain trading in the city centre. He  has sent the names of petitioners to the council.

A final decision is due later this month.

The  St. David’s market is relocating following the council’s approval of  construction of a residential block.

“Surely Cardiff needs this local renowned professional,” said Professor W Fraser, a regular customer. “Keith sells the freshest fish in Cardiff. Why let him go?”

Keith the Fish is convinced the council will grant him permission to continue to sell fish somewhere in the city centre. Previously, he had asked to be allowed to move his business behind Marks and Spencer.

But the superstore has protested claiming it will interfere with its customers.
